High Tech Meets Ergonomic Tech with Backoffice’s New Furniture
Marin IT Company Renovates with Ergonomic Sit-Stand Desks
IT technicians, particularly those servicing small businesses, can experience sudden client issues that lead to late nights of troubleshooting and data recovery. Because of that, ergonomics and physical comfort in a workspace are critical to an efficient and productive staff. For Backoffice Technology Group in Marin, that meant considering new adjustable height desks when it was time to revamp the office — and Backoffice President Tim Wells saw what he needed with Omnirax’s ergonomic office furniture.
When Wells began thinking about this overhaul, he was in luck thanks to a local small business networking group. “I first engaged Omnirax when I met Philip Zittell at a Business Networking International (BNI) networking meeting,” says Wells. Omnirax’s expertise at crafting ergonomic office furniture became especially relevant when Wells’ staff expressed that they wanted a modern paradigm shift with their office furniture. “It was time to upgrade my offices and all of my employees were very interested in desks that they could stand and do their work.”
Custom, Semi-Custom, or Catalog Furniture
Omnirax looked at Backoffice’s preferences and needs, and presented its standard range of options: custom, semi-custom, or catalog. Of course, the Omnirax catalog is a little different from the standard office furniture provider; Omnirax usually offers a catalog of existing designs — designs that were originally custom created for a client’s specific needs.
With custom design, Omnirax’s team examines specific functional constraints such as screen sizes and quantity, interface devices, etc. With semi-custom design, Omnirax starts with a back catalog piece and modifies it to meet a client’s specific needs. For Backoffice Technology, they actually found what they needed in Omnirax’s catalog — something ergonomic and allowed for standing while still looking stylish.
With the design selected, all that was left was for Omnirax to build the furniture. “We used existing designs off-the-shelf that had sold previously,” says Wells. “Twelve pieces in total, plus a conference room table. We chose off-the-shelf because of the technology involved and the way they’re stylish for height adjustable desks.”
Keeping the Team Happy
Ultimately, Omnirax delivered the furniture to Backoffice’s Marin facility. The Backoffice staff quickly adapted to the sit-stand option, and Wells found his entire team was pleased with the results — so much so that he even went on to recommend Omnirax to other colleagues. “We were very satisfied with our Omnirax experience,” says Wells. “We have sold their products to a few of our clients as well.”
In the case of Backoffice Technology, Omnirax was able to pull from its back catalog for an existing piece of ergonomic sit-stand office furniture. By using an off-the-shelf design, Backoffice Technology was able to get custom quality without the time or money necessary for the design process.
