Ergonomically Designed Office Furniture
Why is Omnirax building Office Furniture? It’s a fair question to ask, and the one we posed to ourselves when we decided to embark on this most recent adventure. We’d been producing technical furniture for over two decades and broadcast furniture for more than one, but for years we have had our eye on a much larger market than – the Office Furniture market. After all, everyone has a desk.
Our entry into Technical Furniture was a case of needing to “build a better mousetrap.” Our entry into Broadcast Furniture was a case of an opportunity meeting capability. You could say that building office furniture in our case is a little bit of both. Of course, we understand that the Office Furniture market is dominated by huge companies with established distribution paradigms. But it’s their very size that prevents them from catering to individual customer’s needs. And this is what we do best.
As we began to look at what was out there in the marketplace, we observed that the prevailing shape was still a rectangle whereas we’d long ago committed to curves. We live in a hard-edged world, but people are soft and rounded. We intuitively understood that we wanted our furniture to be more inviting and welcoming rather than imposing and oppositional. We learned from our other lines that people naturally want to surround themselves with their work rather than spreading out linearly.
As designers, we are surrounded by monitors and our work is married to our technology. This is typical of many occupations today. What is also prevalent is that discussion, collaboration and meetings routinely take place around shared screens and conventional furniture design fails to accommodate this trend.
Like Broadcast, when we shifted our eyes to Office, we realized that we’d been doing a bunch of it already and that we came to this new market loaded with expertise. We had already designed and built reception desks, conference tables, all kinds of cabinetry and storage – all as part of other projects. Not to mention lots of desks.
Our Office line takes its cues from what we’ve already been doing successfully for years. Our aim is to wrap your workspace around you – putting more functional space within arm’s reach while at the same time providing enough cleverly designed desk space to promotes collaboration in the workplace – sharing your screen, discussing a project or joining you for lunch. As in our other markets, we offer a sampling of products – ready-mades, typicals – but these are just “serving suggestions,” just a start. We invite collaborative design and customization so that we can bring what we do to what you do – making furniture which inspires, delights and enhances your office environment in ways that make you happier, healthier and more productive.
