Minimizing Waste – Eco Friendly Furniture
Our nested-based method of manufacturing drastically cuts down on waste, helping us to create eco-friendly furniture. You can see in the photo that this system produces very minimal scrap material. Many tons of scrap are kept out of landfill with this ingenious system.
Low-Toxic Components – Environmentally Conscious
To be green, it’s necessary to have sources that are also green. Wilsonart, the source of most of the laminate used in Omnirax furniture, leads the industry in developing and using environmentally responsible materials. Their adhesives are free of urea-formaldehyde and methylene chloride, which are found in many adhesives. Their cold press adhesive is Greenguard ® certified.
The Encore particle board used in Omnirax furniture has a sustainable design utilizing one of the world’s lowest emitting binding systems with no added urea formaldehyde.
Transportation
Not only is Omnirax furniture locally made, many of the materials are locally sourced as well. Whenever possible, components come from within 100 miles, to cut down on transportation.
Recycling
Omnirax recycles and re-uses. Incoming cardboard is re-used for internal packaging. Most files are digital only, and everyone tries to reduce printing and paper use. Instead of having boxes pre-made, Omnirax now buys sheet cardboard and makes boxes that exactly fit what is being shipped. We are environmentally conscious!
Why Green?
Why does Omnirax make choices that support the health of the environment and reduce harm to the planet? Reducing stress on the earth’s ecosystems benefits us all. Whatever we can do, big or small, we know it all adds up.
Why does Omnirax go to all this effort? “You’re a citizen of the earth,” says David Holland, Omnirax VP of Design, with a slightly puzzled look. He seems to think this is a silly question. “Ya gotta have a conscience.” He adds, “We live in one of the most beautiful places in the world. We want to keep it that way.”
